Lip fillers for plumpier and less wrinkles?
Vertical wrinkles around the mouth called
smokers lines or, in France, they call them kissers lines (of course), but it is just a normal part of aging. The lips wrinkles tend to pronounce and deepen more and more as we age due to repetitive action of the muscle surrounding lips – orbicularis oris. One of the most commonly used modalities for correction is a hyaluronic acid based lip filler, carefully placed into the wrinkles and vermolion to fill in the smokers or kissers lines
Too much gum shown during smile?
Too much gum shown during smile can present at any age, but at the old age the protruding tooth and nasolabial folds makes the problem more obvious. The cause is decreasing bones and overly active muscle pulling upper lip inside the mouth.
The gummy smile correction is simple procedure with no downtime by relaxing the overly active muscle with a small amount of injection. Smile correction from anti-wrinkle or muscle relaxant injections effect usually lasts 3-6 months, but good news that at the older age or on a background of slow regeneration the effect tends to lasts longer. Our oldest patient is 95 and her anti wrinkle injections effects normally lasts around 1 year.
Corners of the mouth down?
Filler injection is the technique which provides support and enhance the lifting point at the corners of the mouth. If sad looking corners of the mouth are mild and minor, filler is an easy and quick way to correct it. Such injection lasts approximately 1 year. In other cases, other options are available such as fat dissolve injections to reduce dragging down chin fat; or lifting threads to pull up the corners of the mouth; or mesothreads under the chin to support under corners of the mouth area. Wrinkles around mouth and nasolabial folds?
Wrinkles around the mouth can be strong and too much movement in the area cause the wrinkles around the mouth area. Fibrotic tissue under the skin is tethering inside the nasolabial folds and marionette lines as well as smaller wrinkles around the mouth. Under local anaesthesia, the wrinkles can be released by a special needle or canula. Sometimes doctor can combine it with a dermal filler to enhance regeneration and to fill in emptiness.
Skin is prolapsing down under gravity and bone loss as we age, causing more wrinkles, folds and heaviness in the lower face and enhancing nasolabial folds and then so called marionette lines – lines under the corners of the mouth towards the chin and jawline area. Fat from cheeks is hanging over the mouth line creating a fold. Sometimes it can be improved with dermal filler, but due to highly mobile and moving area, the filler can be pumped out. In case of overly active DAO (depressor anguli oris) muscle, it can be corrected with a small dose of botulinotoxin (precise muscle relaxant infection). Lift of the hanging down skin and fat can be improved with lifting thread from above.
Mesothreads or monothreads are popular for the area due to do or little downtime, much improving with time effect due to collagen stimulating and skin improving effect. Mesothreads create an elastic mesh inside the skin, making it more even.
Upper lip tends to drop down, inside the mouth towards to teeth, creating the impression of smaller upper lip, as we age. Area under the nose prolongates as we age and upper lip dropping down. Cornerstone of such age related changes is due to reduction of the supporting bones, particularly in the central part of the face – maxilla ( we loose bone density and volume with age, in general).
