HOW TO PREPARE FOR COSMETIC PROCEDURE
Medication and Smoking Avoidance
These medications, herbs, supplements, smoking and second hand smoking should be avoided 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after the procedure. These medications and smoking may cause bleeding, interfere with healing, blood pressure and interfere with anesthesia.
Smoking, nicotine gum/patch and second hand smoke may cause skin loss, soft tissue loss or wounds. In fact, except for augmentation, rhinoplasty, and liposuction complete stopping of smoking is required at least 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after procedure.
Quitting smoking is of course always recommended.
This list may not include all medications. To be safe discontinue all herbals including green teas. Do not stop your regularly prescribed medications including heart and circulation medications on your own, check with your physician. You may take Paracetamol (Panadol) for headaches. You may take your regular multivitamins tablets.
The common ones to avoid on the list are Aspirin, Voltaren, Fish oil, Vitamin D and Ibuprofen. Additional note for females – Many medications including antibiotics may neutralize the preventive effect of birth control pills, allowing for conception and pregnancy.
